PIT Award

The Society for Hematopathology Pathologist-in-Training Award've've given each year to a fellow, resident or medical student who presents an outstanding paper related to Hematopathology at the annual meeting USCAP. The nominee must be in one of the categories Mentioned above at the time the paper / abstract is Submitted. Previous winners are not Eligible. Papers are Judged by a committee comprised of members of the Executive Committee of the Society, and scored for scientific approach, significance, and presentation. All nominees must be with posters At Their posters during the official poster sessions so They Can Discuss Their work with the judges in order to be Eligible for the award. Each winner Receives a $ 500.00 prize.

Berard-Dorfman Founders Award

We are pleased to announce That Sh will start accepting nominations for The Berard-Dorfman Founders Award. The award was established in 2013 to commemorate Drs. Costan W. Berard, and Ronald F. Dorfman, who co-founded the Society for Hematopathology (SH) in 1981.

Current Education Committee Activities

 The Education Committee HAS BEEN Actively Involved in the Following projects
(1) In-Service Hematopathology Fellow Examination (Fishe) Resident and In-Service Examination (RISE) 

The Education Committee appointed two subcommittees That Closely interact with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Fishe and RISE Examination Committee. The three-member Core Hematology Test Subcommittee is responsible for test question writing and vetting, strategic planning and test preparation. The Examination Question Authors is composed of 15 volunteer members, who write or solicit test questions from colleagues. Question writing and selection for the next academic year are underway as per the ASCP guidelines.  For instruction to submit entries for Fishe please see here.  For EC SOP see here.

(2) Pathologist Recertification Individualized Self-Assessment Examination (PRISE)

The Education Committee will appoint a PRISE Question Authors Subcommittee That inter-acts with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), PRISE Committee. PRISE is overdeveloped for practicing pathologists to help them measure ABP MOC Part II (Life-Long Learning and Self-Assessment) and Part III (Cognitive Examination) requirements, and for pathology residents as a subspecialty-based study tool. The PRISE Examination Question Author will be composed of 10 volunteer members, who will write five questions each year geared toward practicing pathologists. For instructions to submit entries for PRISE please see here .  For EC SOP see here.

(3) SH Teaching Archives

Case of the Quarter (COQ) – Case studies and discussion of interesting, timely topics. Each case is interactive and participation is awarded 1 CME or SAM credit
● Selected Teaching Cases from past SH/EAHP Workshops – Cases with high teaching value have been selected by workshop committee members for these collections

● Expert Video Tutorials - Expert hematopathologists work through a diagnosis (e.g. How I diagnose…) using whole scanned slides or other formats
